CTurtleHost
CTurtleHost runs a game whose C code is a separately built game module (a
DLL on Windows, a .so on Linux), outside Studio. It loads the game the same
way Studio's Play does. You only need it if your game has a native game
module; see Adding C code.
Players never use CTurtleHost: a game you build with ctgame
is a standalone executable.
Common commands
CTurtleHost games/my-game/game.json
CTurtleHost # uses game.json in the current folder
The manifest's native section names the module file for each platform; see
game.json.
Requirements
- Build the module with the same engine build (native SDK, compiler and
build configuration) that produced
CTurtleHost. A module from a different build is refused. - Keep
CTurtleHostnext to the shared engine library it came with (cturtle_runtime.dllorlibcturtle_runtime.so). - Windows and Linux only.
A native module is ordinary trusted code with full access to the computer.
Errors

cTurtle: MESSAGE | The game failed to start. A message about an SDK or build mismatch means the module must be rebuilt against this engine build. |
