Assets and game data
The content your game loads: images, sounds, fonts and materials, the levels it plays in, the kinds of objects in them, and their animations and effects. Everything starts in the asset registry, which gives each file a name your scripts and other data files use.
| File | What it's for |
|---|---|
Asset registry (assets.yaml) | Names your images, sounds, fonts, materials, animations, actors and data files, including tuning values. |
Scenes (scene.yaml) | A level: camera, lights, placed actors and scene scripts. |
| Actors | One kind of game object: sprite, health, collision size and spawn point. |
Models (models.yaml) | Simple box models for previews and prototypes. |
Motion clips and rigs (.motion, .rig) | Keyframe animations and joint hierarchies. |
Effects (.effect) | Particle and sprite effects. |
Paths in the asset registry are relative to game.json; paths in other files
are relative to the file's own folder.
Studio edits all of these with live previews; see the Studio editors.
